NA Regional Qualifiers Week 9 - Recap

by HiRez ESports | Jul 07, 2014
With 9 weeks down and 1 to go here in the Smite World Cup Regional Qualifiers these teams have come a long way, fighting for a spot in our Regional LAN.  Although some teams have already secured their spot, there is still room for some of our teams to squeeze into the top 4. Let's take a look at what happened in week 9.

COGnitive Gaming          SNIPE          Five Angry Men
              1st                           2nd                           3rd

We started out last weeks recap with #KingCOG but this week has a whole new meaning.  With Team Dignitas out of town we've got a new reigning champion in our rankings.  Taking the number 1 seed and 1st place in week 9, Cognitive Gaming is showing us exactly why they deserve to be number 1.  For the second week in a row Cognitive Gaming performed a 2-0 sweep in the Grand Finals, this week, over 3rd seed SNIPE.  The synergy they have and the strong ability to execute plays individually may keep Cognitive Gaming on top in week 10.

SNIPE, our 3rd seed in these qualifiers took 2nd place this week, securing their spot in the Regional LAN.  With a win over Cognitive Red in the semifinals, they couldn't budge the finely tuned machine that is Cognitive Gaming, eventually losing in the Grand Finals.  We'd also like to recognize current 5th seed team Five Angry Men for winning the bronze match over Cognitive Red.  After coming in 2nd place last week, Five Angry Men put themselves in a great position going into week 10.  If they are able to place as well as they have been the past couple weeks, if not better, we may have a last minute 4th spot contention on our hands.

With only 1 week remaining now you can count on these teams bringing all they've got to the table for one final shot at glory.  We're always looking to improve our coverage and would love to know your thoughts!  You can Tweet us at @SmitePro - and don't forget to follow us on our Twitch Channel - www.Twitch.tv/SmiteGame - for all of our tournament broadcasts.
